Important Information About iThenticate and TURNITIN Similarity Detection Tools



Dear Faculty Member,

The use of iThenticate and TURNITIN similarity detection tools, which were opened to all universities with the TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM EKUAL Agreement and the coordination of the Anatolian University Libraries Consortium (ANKOS) Association, will continue in 2021.

In this context, the iThenticate usage quota of our university has been renewed. Likewise, the TURNITIN system will continue to be used.

In order to use the systems, academic staff who meet the following conditions must send their requests to the e-mail address (kutuphane@gelisim.edu.tr) via their corporate e-mail account. An account will be created for them in a short time and an automatic message will be sent to them to create a password. User guides are attached.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Warnings are frequently received especially for thesis scanning processes. IThenticate detection tool should never be used for theses.
Our thesis advisors should not share TURNITIN account login information with thesis students. Instead, they can create a class for students and share class access information with their students. Our students can upload files to the system in this way. It is reported that for universities that ignore the warnings, access to one or both tools may be blocked. User guides are attached.
